Division probability distribution functions. Each cell depending on its location has a different probability of division p div (i). In this figure, the total number of cells in a row is 26. The location x=0 corresponds to the top of the crypt and x=25 corresponds to the bottom of the crypt. Note that in this model cells at x=0, i.e. the top of the crypt, do not divide. We consider five different theoretical division probability functions and two experimentally measured functions Ex. 1 and Ex. 2. The latter two functions derive from the positional BrdU label index in the murine intestinal crypt from [33], obtained 2h and 24h after labelling, respectively
